When stopping at a railway crossing in a non-restricted speed area (rural area), you should stop at least 15 metres away. This is because you need to have enough space to allow for the length of your vehicle, as well as any additional space in case there is more than one track or a longer than usual train crossing. Option A, 10 metres, may not provide enough space for longer vehicles or multiple tracks. Options C and D, 20 and 25 metres respectively, may provide too much space and may be unnecessary, creating a longer wait time for other vehicles.
